Economical Fleet Utilisation through the Analysis of Vehicle Data
Advantech-DLoG, the leading international specialist in the development and manufacture of industrial PCs and in-vehicle computing solutions, is co-operating with CANGO, the manufacturer of CAN bus solutions and products for the capture of vehicle data. This collaboration enables Advantech-DLoG to integrate the innovative CAN bus technology CANGOclick into its fleet management solutions and thus retrieve vehicle information. What makes this solution so innovative is the way it reads CANbus signals and its simple installation as CANGOclick reads vehicle signals without making a wire to wire connection. This technology guarantees that no intrusive signals are sent to the vehicle CANbus or J1708 bus. This eliminates liability matters, warranty issues or wrong connections. By using this data, the current operating costs for trucks commercial vehicles and construction machines can be decreased considerably.

The Taxi of the Future
It is standard business practice for taxis to transport their passengers from A to B via the quickest route. Nowadays though, taxi operators need to offer their passengers more: In Taiwan, taxis are tackling the future and have been converted into rolling communication centers. In the future, passengers will be able to send messages or e-mails, search for restaurants and events or call up route, traffic and flight information as well as other important information all from the back seat of a taxi. For this, the vehicle requires a WWAN connection, which provides a permanent connection to the Internet, as well as a display on which passengers can view video or other media content. A Taiwanese taxi company has put this idea into practice in a pilot project. To begin with, they implemented a fleet management solution developed by Advantech-DLoG, including a mobile data terminal and two displays into 40 vehicles.

Record Breaking Success

After the fleet management terminal TREK-743 was given an international industry award in February and the vehicle terminal DLoG MTC 6 in March, the company has now received a special prize. First Quarter Sales Growth Success
DLoG (UK) and sister company Seiki Systems have announced that their first quarter figures were up 27% compared to the same period in 2009. Since joining forces in May 2008 Seiki Systems and DLoG (UK) have experienced steady growth in sales of their manufacturing software and industrial hardware solutions, despite the UK experiencing one of its worst financial crises in 2009, which saw a general decline in manufacturing IT sales.

Fast connection for Linux industrial PCs
DLoG GmbH, market leader in industrially capable vehicle mount computers, is expanding its Linux competence and its terminal solution offers based on open operating systems. Together with Göttingen based emlix Gmbh, the terminal specialists from Olching have developed a high-performance WLAN driver and an WPA module (WiFi Protected Access Supplicant). These open source developments guarantee a clear improvement in WLAN connections of warehouse vehicles such as forklifts or picking wagons.
