Shopfloor Data Collection, OEE
Data Collection & Machine Monitoring
- Realtime access to shopfloor information
- Historical Analysis from reliable data
- Improve your production efficiency
- Base decisions based on real data
- Use as part of a six sigma or lean manufacturing initiatives
Data Collection is essential if a manufacturing company is to stay competitive in today's fast moving market place. DLoG can supply a range of data collection solutions encompassing machine data collection, order data collection and including reporting of machine utilisation, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) or updating of a higher level system such as ERP.
Shopfloor Modules
Tip DATA is a simple to use one-touch module for the shopfloor. Machine and operating information can be collected and validated using one user interface. Simple acquisition dialogs and collection of production and part count signals automatically from the machine are configured to suit individual customer requirements. Barcoding equipment can also be incorporated if desired.
Machine Status Reporting
Prisma MI displays the current status of the machines using various clear screens.
Graphically you will see the location of each machine in the factory, together with the machine name and the real-time status of each machine. A 'traffic light' system is used to easily identify the reason for stoppage and to help highlight any critical machine stoppage. Errors are immediately visible so that quick intervention can prevent machines from coming to a standstill or producing rejects.
In the Prisma MI Machine Status function the following is displayed at one glance:
- Which jobs are currently being processed by which employees
- Which quantities have already been manufactured
- Where products are being manufactured
- Where nothing is being manufactured and for what reasons
Prisma MI provides a detailed presentation of the manufacturing situation at the machines. Up-to-date key production data on each machine can be called up at any time and the bar and pie diagrams indicates overall efficiency and which problems have occurred and for how long during the course of a shift, or several days. At any time a click on a particular problem provides a more detailed view.
Overall Equipment Effectiveness - OEE
Using exactly the same method of data collection DLoG can also provide OEE data. OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) is used to provide one figure to show the effectiveness of equipment in your plant by taking into account 3 factors, quality, performance against standard times, and downtime.
DLoG's software and hardware products have been specifically designed to provide a low cost system solution for tracking and reporting shop floor production OEE. Key Performance Indicators with concise and easy to use real time and historical reports are available to all personnel from the shop floor to the boardroom.
The software provides a lot more functionality then just historical and real- time OEE reporting, with additional ‘included as standard’ capability to provide complete reporting of human resources, downtime, shift performance, product performance, Job Planning + much more.
The system also includes a Third Party Interface (TPI) to allow the importing of data to DLoG's database. This can be typically used to import routings and standard times from third party software systems such as ERP or other systems that can output a compatible file.
If there is no requirement for viewing of drawings or changeover information then simpler, cost effective then specifically designed Data Collection Terminals (DCT) may be installed next to the target machine and which can connect to the OEE IMPACT Server over RS485 or Ethernet (cabled or Wi-fi).
Shopfloor Data Collection
A sophisticated system to allow the collection of order, employee and machine data to update your MRP/ERP system. Data is downloaded from the ERMP/MRP system and can then be released to the shopfloor so that operators can easily book on to the appropriate job merely by highlighting the job in the list. Data is validated directly to the Production Link database so that incorrect data cannot be recorded.
There will of course be times when operators forget or miss a booking, so there is an option to correct these bookings before their passage to the ERP/MRP system.
The system comprises several elements, some working seamlessly in background. These include:-
- Synchronsier - Used to import and update data from the ERP system
- Production Manager - Used to release work to the shopfloor and to review the status of jobs
- Resource Manager - Used to configure the system and shift patterns, shopfloor terminals etc.
- Administrator - Used to approve and modify bookings prior to updating the ERP system
- Calculator - Used to calculate job times taking into account shift patterns, calendars, multi-machines and multi-manned operations.
- Data collected and processed by Production Link can also be viewed using NeT Tracking (link)
