The collection of live and accurate data is a key element to achieving consistently high quality and efficiency.
Whilst traditional paper based methods can be used to collect and collate data, they are often based upon historical data records and are likely to be inaccurate. DLoG can supply a range of data collection solutions encompassing machine data collection, including reporting of machine utilisation, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) or updating of a higher level system such as ERP.
Machine monitoring provides users with the ability to manually or automatically record the status of your manufacturing resources and report on machine performance both in real time and historically. The collection of live and accurate data is a key element to achieving consistently high quality and efficiency. It enables companies to quickly identify, evaluate and respond to important events whilst increasing equipment availability and reliability.
Automatic and manual collection of productive and non-productive events occurring on CNC and manual machine tools can be both captured and selected using our monitoring software. Each operation and status change can be derived automatically (e.g. cycle start or alarm condition) via digital signals received from the machine tool, providing continuous recording of production times, including time and reasons for non-productivity. Operators can also manually enter operating conditions and status changes by selecting the from 64 user defined activities on the local PC screen (e.g. waiting parts) using our simple HMI. All machine activities are recorded with a date and time stamp, along with the duration of each event in a Log Book. The results can then be viewed as an event list or exported for evaluation and further analysis to identify reasons for inefficiency and understand reasons for lost productivity; it can also help to reduce maintenance costs.
The Factory Status module can be configured to provide a dynamic real time view of the shop environment showing current machine status and current job information. Multiple licences of the Factory Status module can extend this real time information availability to management or supervisory personnel anywhere in your organisation. In the event of machine alarms and stoppages it is possible, via the Machine Monitoring solution, to generate automatic status conditions represented as colour coded icons. The system can be configured to utilise these conditions to automatically generate emails and SMS to supportive personnel, i.e. Maintenance.
In addition to the machine monitoring solution, we also offer a sophisticated shop floor data collection system to allow the collection of order and machine data to update your MRP/ERP system. This module is used by the resource operator to advise when jobs are being started or completed with the data being fed back directly to the Scheduler for automatic updating. The job ID can be selected from the work queue, input manually or read in via barcode scan. The quantity completed can be either incremented, per part or totaled as the job is finished and the software incorporates the facility to enter scrap codes and reasons. For systems not incorporating the Scheduler, the collected data can be made available for input into any required external system.
In order to benefit from monitoring your resources it is essential that the data has been effectively organised and processed. Machine Utilisation and Job Reporting software is available to provide an easy method of accessing, viewing and summarising the data to generate reports. Identifying the reasons for lost productivity can reduce costs and improve manufacturing efficiency. These reporting and analysis tools provide relevant management information based on real time data collection, which can then be used to inform strategies to optimise machine uptime, output and ROI. Results are displayed graphically and are configurable to enable users to drill down to the level of detail required.
