DLoG are able to offer a number of system infrastructure options to suite customer requirements. They include:
In its simplest form Direct DNC allows connection of up to eight machines using serial (RS232) cables to a central computer. The user simply needs to press the output button to send a small request file with the name of the desired NC program from the machine control system to the DNC computer. All that remains is to press the Input button on the controller - everything else is automatic. The DNC software analyses the request file and sends the correct NC program to the machine.
If longer distances exist (typically 20m or more), then the serial cable is replaced with ethernet network cabling and a COM server (also called a serial server) is installed at the machine's RS232 port.

Alternatively avoid the use of cables completely and choose a system allowing movement or relocation of the machines in the future by installing wireless COM servers. The system works in just the same way but uses a wireless network infrastructure.
