Networked Manufacturing System

DNC - Direct Numerical Control Software

Complete shop floor system to electronically distribute and collect all manufacturing process data

Networked Manufacturing System

Managing the critical link between production efficiency and profitability is essential to remaining competitive. The pressure to keep costs low whilst maintaining the high standards demanded by industry and customers is growing, emphasising the need to deliver value to the customer by eliminating waste through the entire manufacturing process. NMS is designed for companies looking to maximise productivity and get more from less, by utilising a complete shop floor system to electronically distribute and collect manufacturing process data.

NMS allows you to reliably manage and retrieve all the technical information required for production. Whilst this often includes NC part programs the data is not restricted to this area, but can include setup sheets, tooling information, stage drawings, finished part drawings, methods sheets, in fact anything required to manufacture components correctly.

NMS is not only for use in the production office, but is designed to allow information to be downloaded and displayed on terminals on the shopfloor, at the very heart of the production process. From here the NC program can be transferred to the CNC machine, and the technical information viewed (and printed if desired) on the shopfloor display.

NC Program Control

Our robust shopfloor communications software enables NC programmers to store the programs they create against the particular operation and machine that it is to be used on. Alternative routings and operations may also be stored. Should an engineering change be required it is a simple task to find all the programs for the part in question, and ensure that they are all updated if required.  A comprehensive NC Editor, which is included with the system, can be installed on the Host PC and accessed on the shop floor terminals. This allows the comparison of original program, or programs for the same operation on different machines during prove-out.

Control of all technical data - The Paperless factory?

The paperless factory, or just LESS paper? In any event NMS can help by collating all the information required for the manufacturing process and storing it securely until required by other technical departments or required for manufacture. One of the advantages of a paperless manufacturing environment is that up-to-date manufacturing data is made available at the point of use for viewing by operators on the shop floor, data such as NC Programs, drawings, tool lists, operator instructions, NC simulation videos, etc. Supportive functions, like toolsetting, can see what is needed, where and when, to ensure that everything is ready for the start time. The system can also be configured to meet the requirements specified in individual quality standards by recording batch details and changes to NC programs, with audit and traceability records being automatically generated.

Continuous Improvement

The ability to share vital production information across the company is becoming increasingly critical in the drive to maintain quality and achieve greater efficiency by operating a knowledge based organisation. The combination of live production information and increased visibility enables you to maintain a controlled and flexible approach to the manufacturing process. Whilst traditional paper based methods can be used to collect and collate data they are often based upon historical data records and are likely to be inaccurate. The Machine Monitoring, SFDC and feedback functionality within NMS enables access to real-time reporting, machine and job performance analysis and OEE on which to base production efficiency and improvement strategies.
